Yesterday I had the pleasure, albeit with some trepidation, of addressing the Bennington High School regarding a Life Skills class we will be doing up there starting in January.
Now, it's been EONS since I've been in school and my graduating class had over 670 students in it alone, but to stand in front of less than 200 youth was a bit overwhelming and, as the principal put it, I'm not used to standing in front of a bunch of youth. Adults, not a problem.
However, it was so awe inspiring to have over a dozen of them come up and give me hugs and say "Hi!" and let me know they miss coming to the library and ask how I'm doing and "We'll come back once....is over".
That was special. The library is more than just a book museum. It's a place where we converse, share thoughts, ideas, jokes, worries, laughter and tears and I've had the honour of doing just that with some of the youth here.
I'm excited for the Life Skills class! I'm looking forward to working with you who are ready to take hold of their life and become the best young adult they can!
For more information on how you can get involved please send me an email! Thanks!
